We are a small hobby kennel located in Connecticut and breed only once or twice a year, striving to produce healthy Labradors that are sound and possess true Labrador temperament. If you do not have a sweet and giving temperament you do not have a Labrador Retriever. The puppies raised at Brownstone will be outstanding dogs whether they are in the show ring, field, or just being family companions.
Our dogs are first and foremost a loving part of our family as well as accomplished field and obedience competitors. They live in our home, sharing our kitchen, living room, bedroom, and yes, the bathroom too!
All puppies are raised in our home and do not leave until they are 8 weeks old.
The dogs in our breeding program have the appropriate clearances through OFA, CERF , Optigen, EIC, CNM. These tests are valuable tools in breeding, but do not guarantee that a puppy won't develop health problems.
You may wonder where our kennel name comes from. It comes from Portland, CT where I purchased my first dog, Amber. Portland was once known for it's brownstone quarries in the 1800's which supplied brownstone for so many of the buildings still standing today. So, since Amber came from Portland, and Brownstone was unique to the town, I felt Brownstone Labradors would be a great kennel name.
I am presently an active member of the Yankee Waterfowlers Hunting Retriever Club & Labrador Retriever Club of Pioneer Valley
